After Cumberland Island, we drove to St. Simon Island and stopped at St. Simons Inn for a night, a cute hotel with a view of the lighthouse from the balcony.
St. Simons is a quaint little town.
Fort Frederica National Monument was nearby, so we decided to check it out. Park rangers were dressed as residents of the fort from the 1700’s demonstrating a typical day at that time. Pretty curious, glad we don’t have to live like that anymore.
Next we drove over to Jekyll Island, which used to be a private club for the richest people in the early 20th century. The historic district still has the some of the houses of the past. Since we were recovering from the bike ride from the day before, we decided to take a tram tour of the area.
For lunch, we stopped at Zachry’s Riverhouse. The area is known for fresh shrimp, so we definitely had to have some. It was delicious.
The rest of the day was dedicated to Jekyll beaches.
The reason we came to Jekyll Island was Driftwood beach. What a photogenic place! Perfect place for photo shoots 🙂
