Taipei was such a breath of fresh air. How often does the hotel give you a breakfast to go when you have an early departure? Never, at least not in my experience. The kindness of people didn’t stop at the hotel, it extended everywhere, even the taxi drivers were nice. Add to that great food, nice temples, good public transportation and the result is a very positive experience. I don’t know if it was luck, but I was impressed. We had one full day in Taipei, and as usual, our day was filled with plenty of activities: Chiang Kai-Shek memorial hall, Taipei 101, Longshan temple, Maokong Gondola, Shilin night market and Moon Bridge in DaHu park.

So impressed with the intricate details of the decorative elements at the Longshan temple.

Apparently, my camera captures good-looking guys without my knowledge 🙂 I honestly didn’t notice him until I got home and looked through the pictures.

View of Taipei from the ride on Maokong Gondola. The ride is 30 min long one-way, enough to freeze my behind on the metal seats, but worth the amazing view of the city.

When I searched for inspiration for Taipei on Pintrest, a nice picture of the Moon Bridge popped up and I had to see it myself 🙂 Ideally, I would’ve wanted to be there at a different time of day, but we ran out of time.

While waiting in line to order the famous sausage wrapped in sausage at the Shilin Market, I wondered off and found this lovely temple with hundreds of red lanterns on the ceiling.

In addition to all the places we’ve seen, we managed to fit four meals in our day in Taipei: two breakfasts (one of which was DTF, the birth place of xiao long bao – sooo good!), one lunch (hot pot with fresh seafood, and by fresh I mean still moving) and one dinner (all kind of deep-fried and grilled goodness at the night market).
